Greater Scioto Valley Emmaus Newsletter—July 2006—Volume 12, Issue 7
Greetings my sisters and brothers in Christ. It’s hard to believe July is here already. The buzz word for the month is Chrysalis!!! There is a boys flight July 8-10 and a girls flight July 15-17. Please be in prayer for these precious teens. Also plan to attend candlelight on Sunday evening and closing on Monday. Show your support for the youngest members of the community.
What an experience with Women’s Walk #36. WOW! Welcome to our 35 new sisters. As indicated by your closing comments the Holy Spirit was surely present the entire weekend. Each walk is uniquely blessed by the grace of God, and He just keeps on blessing us in ways we have not known. The community support of the walk was there too; young and “wiser” members serving side by side in every aspect.
God receives the greatest glory when His servants come to the end of their resources and can only look up. Ask Him to strengthen you today in your weakness, for His love truly endures forever. There are no guarantees that if we began well we will finish well. The life of Asa tells us this. It is only through God's grace that we can be faithful to our calling. Each of us is capable of falling away from God. Pray that God will keep you faithful to the purposes He has for your life. He strengthens those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.
The board is asking for your help. Pastor Phil Howard is working hard to pull together our All Emmaus Reunion on September 23rd in Clarksburg, Ohio. We are asking each of you to spread the word. Many of our community members do not get this publication and need to be informed.
This also includes our caterpillars from Chrysalis. We don’t want to leave anyone out. We pray that every walk would be represented on this day. Believe it or not that’s 61 walks that have taken place at Trinity UMC. More details will follow.
I close this month’s article with a quote from a very good friend of mine, “At the end of the day when all is said and done, may there be more done than said.”

Lay Director’s Report on Women’s Walk #36
Wow is the word. After weeks of preparation and prayer, it’s hard to believe the walk has already come and gone. But it has, and I can tell you that we were blessed by the continual presence of the Holy Spirit. As Jon Mark said, we were also blessed by the service cheerfully given by members of the community. In addition to the kitchen and housekeeping workers, who serve anonymously from a heart filled with love for the Lord and the pilgrims, we also were blessed by a visit from Noah, a couple of real clowns, the cutest Babe Chicks around, a hillbilly band, and a wonderful angelic choir of sisters. We want each of you who participated to know that we sincerely appreciate it. God used you to make the weekend an extremely successful walk. Your service is essential to the success of each walk and to the very existence of the Greater Scioto Valley Emmaus Community.
Thirty-five pilgrims completed the walk and are now part of our community. Please be on the lookout for them at future gatherings so that you can introduce yourself and welcome them into the fold.

We have all experienced the wonder of knowing God is present, of shedding our burdens during Dying Moments, and experiencing a wave of love during Candlelight. The ladies of Walk #36 now share that experience, thanks to you. The team and pilgrims were fitted together by the hand of God so that healing and renewal took place in every corner of the conference room. We are grateful to you and to our precious Lord for allowing us the privilege of being in His presence.

Don’t Forget the All-Emmaus Reunion is in between!

The All-Emmaus Reunion is Coming
September 23, 2006
What is an All-Emmaus Reunion?
It’s an afternoon of special music, speakers, worship, family games and activities and of course delicious food including roast hog!.
The event runs from 11 am to 4 pm
The GSVE board has chosen Saturday, September 23 as the date. Now it’s your turn to choose to reserve the day. Plan to bring your family (even if they haven’t been on a walk), invite others especially those you have sponsored or shared a table with on a walk, to join us in Clarksburg at the Field Days Grounds for a day to remember. Bring a covered dish along with your appetite and enthusiasm. Come for the whole event or for as long as you can stay. There’s sure to be something you’ll enjoy, however long you can stay. It doesn’t matter how long ago you took your walk or whether you’ve been active in Emmaus recently. We want to see you, to get reacquainted. Be sure to wear your badge. We’ll have a great time.

Get Your Cookie Recipes Out
There’s a Kairos Walk coming up in August!!
Help Spread the News:
The other side of this page is an invitation for you to send to your table mates, pilgrims you have sponsored and Emmaus friends you haven’t seen or heard from for awhile. Our goal is to have people from every walk in attendance. Just make copies of the invitation, fold in quarters for invitation size envelopes, or in thirds for regular No. 10 envelopes, and mail them out to as many people as you can think of. Remember, this event is open to all. You do not have to have been on an Emmaus Walk, Chrysalis Flight or Kairos Walk to attend.

CELL PHONES vs. BIBLES
Have you ever stopped to ponder what would happen if you treated our Bible like we treat your cellular phone?
v What if you carried it around in your purse, pocket, or even on your belt?
v What if you turned back to get it if you forgot it?
v What if you checked it several times a day for “messages”?
v What if you used it to send and receive “text messages”?
v What if you treated it like you couldn’t live without it?
v What if you gave it to your kids as a gift?
v What if you never left home without it, especially on vacation?
v What if you used it in case of an emergency?
v What if you upgraded it to the latest version?
v Have you ever stopped to ponder?
