Greater
This month I would like to encourage you with the
Word, I want you to Find Your Place in the Body…. I want you to know what your
Gift is and then use that Gift for the Glory of God. I want you to use your
Gift to build up the body and the community with your service and with your
life.
As we prepare for Women’s Walk #36, take a moment
to remember your experience on your walk. Everything prepared for you, arranged
so that everything was in its place at just the right moment without notice or
fuss. Many opportunities exist for service on walk weekends. If you can’t make
it to the church to work in the kitchen or on a housekeeping crew during the
weekend, perhaps you can serve by praying for the pilgrims and team. Prayer is
essential!!! How precious the power of prayer and how loving to pray for
someone you don’t even know. Many people are required for the success and flow
of the weekend. You see, we often look
at those that are in front, those that teach or preach, or are in leadership
positions. Those positions are obviously needed, but every gift is vital to the
Body of Christ… and every gift, as it’s exercised should build up the church,
never tear it down. Paul says in 1 Cor. 14:12, So it is with you. Since you are
eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.
The very first sentence in the Purpose Driven Life…
It’s not about You. If you’re worried about “You”, then you have it all
backwards…. It’s about Christ, and letting Him use you for His purpose, not for
your own glory, but for His. As you learn to exercise your Gifts in the body,
remember it’s His Body, it’s His Church, and it’s His Gifts, not yours…. He has
given you these gifts for the church’s benefit, and if we exercise these gifts
properly, His church will be built up and His Holy Name will be glorified. God
Bless You All!!!
DeColores,
Jon Mark Hall

A Word
from Our Spiritual Director . . .
Summer Is Here!
Memorial Day weekend is considered by most to be the
beginning of summer. Many schools are
finished or close to it, pools are opened, vacations begin, and life takes on a
slightly different “feel.” Or so it
seems. Summertime used to feel different
because it felt more relaxed. Activity
levels were lower because many activities took the summer off. Meetings and clubs often did not meet because
people were traveling or into other summertime activities. And sometimes those other activities were going
to baseball games, swimming, or taking it a bit easier than normal. Is that still the case?
For some reason, summer seems as busy as the rest of
the year. In our hyper-kinetic world,
are we taking the time we need to re-charge ourselves?
You may be familiar with the hymn, “Take Time to be Holy.” It was written in 1882, but even then, people had to be intentional about taking time out of our normal routines to seek Jesus. Has life become more hectic in the last 124 years? Undoubtedly. So even more so today we need to take time with Jesus, to slow down and listen for the still, small voice of God.
I hope your summer is relaxing and fun. But even more so, I hope the summer is a time
for you to deepen your relationship with Jesus.
Spend time in prayer and Bible study, worship and fellowship with
others. The world is always trying to
convince us we need to go faster. Slow
down this summer and just be with Jesus.
God bless you,
Tad

You Can Serve on Walk #36 Too!
There are
many ways to serve even if you aren’t part of the live-in team.
Kitchen—You can
sign up to cook and serve any meal during the walk. You can signup by accessing
the online signup sheet, signing up during the May gathering or calling Tom
Dishong at 740-596-4353 or Danny Morris at 740-606-1582.
Housekeeping—Did you
know that cleaning bathrooms can be fun? You will be blessed and be a blessing
to others when you join the housekeeping crew. Signup online at www.
gsvemmaus.org, or call Dena Benner at 937-981-4162 or Pat Miller at
740-446-1537. Special crews are needed for setup on Wednesday evening and

agape. By the way—if you aren’t in a share group and don’t know how to get into
one, why not start one of your own?
72-Prayer
Vigil—Last, but not least, you can serve by praying for the pilgrims
and team. Signup online or at the gathering, or call or email Amy Edler at
740-642-2938 amyedler@horizonview.net.

Upcoming Chrysalis Flights
There are two Southern Ohio Chrysalis Flights ready
to take off this July. The girls will fly with Christ July 8-10 and the Boys
will fly July 15-17. Like with Emmaus walks, Chrysalis requires lots of prayer
and background helpers. If you can spare the time, contact Joanne Charles to
see how you can help out. The joy, the enthusiasm, the blessings—they’re all in
ample supply when you get teens on fire for the Lord. It’s a great time to fill
your own spiritual tank by serving our youth.

Get Involved—It’s a Blessing
to You and the Pilgrims
Try it. You’ll like it! You all know what a blessing
Candlelight is, but did you know that participating in other special walk
events can be just as blessed? It’s true. You are there because you love Jesus,
you love your fellow community members, and you love the pilgrims. What could
be more blessed? Singing your heart out, cavorting in transgender clothing—it’s
a hoot. You’ll always come away feeling better for having given unselfishly,
unselfconsciously for others. Here are the opportunities for the June walk.
Babe Chicks
will perform Friday June 16 at dinner. Contact Brent Edmonson at 740-998-5650
or email him at bedmonson@bright.net
for information on when and where to
assemble.
Any woman who likes to sing (you don’t have to be
good) is invited to join the hilarity of Sister Act Saturday, June 17.
The good sisters will congregate for a brief practice at 5:30 in the youth
room, located upstairs in the southeast corner of Trinity UMC. Enter the door
by the office or kitchen and go up the stairs. Please remember to keep your
presence hidden from the pilgrims, especially if you are sponsoring a pilgrim
on the walk. Newcomers are always welcome. Sue Kelley and Roberta Strawser are
the mothers superior and road managers for this world famous troupe. Join us.
You’re sure to be blessed by the experience.
Opportunities to Serve:
There are
still slots available to serve in the kitchen or on the housekeeping crew
during the June walk. Go online to GSVEmmaus.org to signup or call the board
members in charge of kitchen or housekeeping. There are also slots available on
the 72 -hour prayer vigil.
June Gathering—June 22 at 7 P.M.
