From Our Chairperson . . .

The view from hereÉ

I love June. Not too hot, not too cool. The first day of summer, the opening of the pool, picnic baskets and summer getaways.

June is a wonderful month to take in all of GodŐs creative beauty-gardens, flowers, baby animals, green trees and grass (which needs to mowed again, and again, and againÉ). The smell of fresh cut hay, and the clean air following a summer storm.

June is a month of beginnings and endings. Summer break, graduations, weddings, and college acceptances mark milestone events in our lives.

June is a month of busyness. Family reunions, vacations, home remodeling, landscaping, ball games-IŐm certain you could make this list grow with your own activities.

As we each strive to live each day of summer to itŐs fullest, letŐs remember to keep Piety, Study, and Action as part of our daily itinerary. Whether we are going full tilt or chilling out in the hammock out back, Jesus is still counting on you and me. Think, be safe, worship wherever you are, share His love, and have a wonderful summer.

Comments from Our Community Spiritual Director

Bind us together Lord, bind us together

And whether one member suffers, all the members suffer with ti: or one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. I Corinthians 12:26

The huge redwoods of California are considered the largest living things on the earth and the tallest tree in the world. Some of them are three hundred feet high and over 2,500 years old. One would think that trees so large would have a tremendous root system reaching down hundreds of feet into the earth.

The redwoods actually have a very shallow system of roots, but they all intertwine. They lock to each other. When a storm comes or the wind blows, the redwoods stand. They are locked to each other and they don't stand alone, for all the trees support and protect each other.

One of our family's favorite activities during vacation is attending church. To see brothers and sisters in Christ that we have not seen for a year and to get caught up with their life is a great joy. We have an opportunity to share in joy or sorrow. One church is a chapel at Holden Beach, North Carolina.

It is a nondenominational church that has a guest pastor every week. They   come from all different backgrounds and different parts of the country. So do the worshipers. It is a wonderful worship experience! It is knowing that we share a common experience in Christ that binds us together and we are the body of Christ. Each church that we attend whether our local church or one that we experience during vacation deepens the connection with fellow believers and strengthens the body of Christ.

Bind us together, Lord.
