A Word From Our ChairÉ
I donÕt like conflict or
confrontation; and this week when I had to discuss some touchy issues with some
friends, you could tell by my face that I was uncomfortable. My dear mother gave me this trait Ð the
temples pound, I can feel the blood rushing to my cheeks and suddenly it gets
very hot in the room (regardless of whether it actually is or not). I definitely donÕt have a poker face
and cannot hide my frustration, fears and reservation behind calm, cool,
collected facial expressions. But
what needed to be done was necessary!
God knew the situation had to be dealt with and hopefully it was done
without hurting or offending anyone.
One of my biggest pet peeves is lack of
communication. If you have
something to say, say it. If it is
negative, be sure you have a positive solution. If it involves bringing someone to accountability,
great! We are responsible for
holding each other accountable for our lives Ð thatÕs what our share groups are
for. We cannot become complacent
in our walk with Christ. We cannot
assume (love that word, too!) that everything is going smoothly for our church,
our families, or our Emmaus Community.
But we also donÕt know if something is wrong unless we hear about
it! A complaint-fest is not the
way to go, but constructive criticisms and calls to accountability are highly
encouraged.
One of the main aspects of the Walk to Emmaus is
to allow Christians an opportunity to develop, improve and rekindle their
skills in leadership.
Unfortunately, all leaders will be thrown curves from time to time. HereÕs a scripture that might help you
Ð it has been one of comfort and encourage to me:
I leave you peace; my
peace I give you.
I do not give it to
you as the world does.
So donÕt let your
hearts be troubled or afraid.
Oh, and donÕt forget about
that main communication line between you and God Ð PRAYER!
Anyone who is having
troubles should pray.
Anyone who is happy
should sing praises.
James 5:13
